How Is It Performed?
When you join us for sclerotherapy, you will receive a warm welcome from our clinical care team, who will then escort you back to a private treatment area. We will ask you to lie on your back with your legs elevated. After we ensure your comfort, we will clean the skin at your treatment site and carefully administer the solution. A local anesthesia may be applied to minimize any discomfort you experience during the procedure.
The number of injections you need simply depends on the number of veins, the size of the veins, and the location of the veins that you wish to be treated.
What Is the Recovery Like?
The recovery associated with sclerotherapy is minimal. While you will need to wear compression socks or bandages for one to two weeks, most patients are ready to walk around and resume all of their normal activities immediately following the procedure. We recommend getting some physical activity, even just a stroll through your neighborhood or office building, to promote healing.
