What Is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive treatment used to greatly reduce the growth of hair follicles in areas of undesired hair. While results from waxing will only last for a few weeks, laser hair removal can last for years. At 785 Aesthetic Med Spa, we use InMode Diolaze technology to ensure a safe and productive treatment. This device sends short pulses of laser energy that target each individual follicle, reducing their ability to grow back. The laser can be used at different intensities, depending on several factors, including the rate of hair growth, the thickness of the hair, and the sensitivity of the targeted area. It is commonly used to treat the legs, arms, back, face, and intimate areas. If you’re unhappy with the state of your body or facial hair, contact us today to schedule a consultation with our team in Salina, KS.
Am I An Ideal Candidate For Laser Hair Removal?
As the laser targets the hair based on the contrast between the hair and skin, prospective patients with blonde, white, gray, or red hair may not be good candidates for laser hair removal. While most laser hair treatments are not intended for dark skin types, InMode Diolaze technology allows us to treat patients of up to skin type VI. As such, ideal patients of most skin types are able to undergo laser hair removal at our practice.
The Benefits
There are a number of ways in which you can benefit from laser hair removal. Just a few of the most noteworthy benefits include:
- Laser hair removal is a fast in-office procedure.
- It is much more comfortable than other methods for hair removal, such as painful waxing or irritating shaving.
- Laser hair removal provides a precise way to target unwanted hairs for removal, helping you achieve your desired aesthetic outcome.
- Lasers can remove hair from virtually anywhere on your body.
- Laser hair removal can help prevent the occurrence of ingrown hairs.
- With laser therapy, you can get long-term results, preventing regrowth.
How Is Laser Hair Removal Performed?
At the beginning of the procedure, the skin in the targeted area will be lightly stretched, which makes it easier for the laser to target the individual hair follicles. Once this has been done, the laser will transfer thermal energy to the roots of each follicle, which will safely prevent them from regrowing. Sessions can last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the targeted area.
Laser hair removal usually requires around 3 – 5 treatments before optimal results can be achieved. These additional treatments — usually spaced about 3 – 4 weeks apart — are necessary in order to ensure hair follicles are not hiding in a dormant growth phase. With several sessions spanning a handful of months, we’re able to target the follicles in a state of growth, ensuring it can be targeted during the treatment.
What Is The Recovery Process For Laser Hair Removal?
While the side effects of laser hair removal are relatively minor, the treated area can feel and appear lightly sunburned in the days following the treatment. In order to mitigate this pain, the InMode Diolaze uses a cooling plate to reduce the amount of heat on your skin. If the pain persists, certain anti-inflammatory creams may be used to soothe any discomfort. Lastly, exercise and sun exposure should be avoided as much as possible for at least 24 hours after the treatment in order to allow the body to heal.
